Privacy Policy

The short version: GiftWhimsy has no servers of its own. Your wish lists live in your iCloud account, the gifts people plan for you are encrypted so you can't see them, and we don't track you or sell anything about you.

Where your data lives

GiftWhimsy stores everything in Apple's iCloud using CloudKit, inside your own iCloud account, plus a copy on your devices so the app works offline. BooBaDo LLC does not run a backend for GiftWhimsy and does not receive or store your wishes, photos, circles, or messages.

• Your private data: your profile (display name, avatar, and an optional birthday), your wishes and their photos, saved gift ideas, and your own shopping notes are kept in your private iCloud database. Only you can read it.
• Circles you share with: when you share wishes with a circle, the circle's data is stored in the iCloud account of the person who created the circle and shared with the members they invite. Sharing is invite-only.
• Your account is your iCloud account. GiftWhimsy has no separate sign-up, email, or password.

Keeping surprises secret

When someone in your circle plans to give you something or chips in on a wish, that information is end-to-end encrypted with keys that every member of the circle holds except you. Your devices can't decrypt it, and neither can we. The encryption keys are kept in your devices' keychain and, if you use it, iCloud Keychain.

What happens on your device

• Camera and photos. The camera is used only when you choose to capture something you'd like. Photos you add are processed on your device (for example, to cut out the item from its background) and are checked on-device for sensitive content before they can be shared to a circle.
• Apple Intelligence. Wish descriptions and gift ideas are generated with Apple's on-device models. GiftWhimsy does not send your wishes to an AI service of its own.
• Notifications are created on your device from changes in your circles. Apple delivers the background updates that trigger them.

Links and shopping

• Product links. When you add a link, your device loads that page directly from the store's website to read the product name, image, and price. That store receives the request like any visit to its site. Tracking parameters are removed from links you save.
• Web search. "Search the web" opens a search page in an in-app browser. What you do on that site is covered by its own privacy policy.

What we don't do

• No advertising, and no ad or analytics tracking SDKs.
• We don't sell or share your personal information, and we don't build profiles about you.
• We don't have access to your wishes, photos, circles, or gift plans.

Your choices

• Export or delete your data. In the app, Settings → Data & account lets you export your data, or delete your account, which erases what GiftWhimsy keeps in your iCloud. Circles you created can't continue without you and become read-only for their members.
• Leave a circle at any time. Your shared wishes stop showing there.
• Permissions such as the camera and notifications can be changed in your iPhone's Settings.
• Data stored in iCloud is also subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date above.
